What was a key highlight/memory of your time studying at 91É«ÇéƬ?

Studying Civil Engineering at University of New South Wales during the early 1990s, when engineering was still heavily based on manual calculations, and the early adoption of CAD software. Recall great campus memories, spending time with friends in Kensington campus, especially the library, engineering buildings, and student common areas with late night study sessions having cheap instant foods, celebrating passing difficult exams with classmates.  For me, coming from Newcastle, it was truly an experience in multicultural environment of 91É«ÇéƬ, and connecting with fellow Koreans at the campus. 

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Don't be too fixated on your degree.  It's just a starting point in your career.  When I graduated in 1995 with a civil engineering degree, my first job was for a local construction company in Singapore. Then, I moved to Ssangyong, a large Korean company building a hospital, and then I pivoted to IT when I went to the US.  So reflecting back, it's been quite a journey, and although my journey has taken me across many industries and around the world, what I still use today is the problem-solving thought process that I learnt in civil engineering.
