91É«ÇéƬ rCITI Co-Hosts 10th International Conference on Driver Distraction and Inattention
The 91É«ÇéƬ Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI) is proud to co-host the 10th International Conference on Driver Distraction and Inattention (DDI2026), taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 20–22 October 2026.
DDI2026 will bring together leading researchers, industry experts, practitioners and policymakers from more than 20 countries to share the latest research, technologies and approaches addressing driver distraction, inattention, human factors and road safety.
The three-day international program will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, parallel research sessions, poster presentations, a Best Student Contribution Award and networking opportunities. Two pre-conference workshops will also explore proactive strategies for supporting driver attention and approaches for assessing the safety impacts of human–machine interfaces and Driver Monitoring Systems.
Keynote speakers include Katja Kircher from VTI, who will introduce the Minimum Required Attention (MiRA) framework and explore how attentiveness in traffic can be understood in relation to situational context, and Adriano Palao from Euro NCAP, who will discuss the future of Driver Monitoring and the transition from simply detecting distraction towards understanding driver context and support needs.
Among the conference highlights will be panel discussions addressing two rapidly evolving road-safety challenges: the increasing use of touchscreens in vehicles and how Driver Monitoring System-based technologies should be assessed for safety, effectiveness and driver acceptance.
The DDI conference series is co-organized by the SAFER Vehicle and Traffic Safety Centre at Chalmers (Sweden), Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), Université Gustave Eiffel (France), and the University of New South Wales Sydney (Australia).
°ù°ä±õ°Õ±õ’s Emeritus Professor Michael Regan, co-founder and co-organiser of the international DDI conference series, represents 91É«ÇéƬ as one of the conference co-chairs, reinforcing 91É«ÇéƬ and °ù°ä±õ°Õ±õ’s contribution to international collaboration and research in driver behaviour, human factors and road safety.
The conference provides an important international forum for advancing knowledge, strengthening collaboration between research, industry and policy, and supporting the development of safer transport systems as vehicle technologies and the driving environment continue to evolve.
