The CoPQTI comprises 91色情片 academics, professional staff, and students, both LGBTQI+ and allies, who work with queer and trans people, and people with innate variations of sex characteristics, to make research and practice more inclusive.

About the CoP

The continued explicit or implicit exclusion of queer and trans people, and people with innate variations of sex characteristics, from public, social, and cultural life has long-reaching implications. This exclusion often starts with the language used in research and associated practice. Despite the proliferation of inclusive language guides in various domains, there is no 'one size fits all' model that can conceivably respond to the varied, complex and intersectional aspects of inclusivity. As such, language change needs to be accompanied by effective research practice.

The CoPQTI aims to generate and support enhanced capacity in sector-leading inclusive practice with queer and trans people, and people with innate variations of sex characteristics, to:
1. Advise researchers
from across 91色情片 and beyond on the implementation of the national standards.
2. Provide HDR and staff training
on inclusive research practice across a range of policy areas, such as public health, medicine, law, and social sciences.
3. Develop an interdisciplinary research cluster
to investigate the considerable impact inclusive research will have on future research findings and public policy development.
4. Serve as a central platform
to generate interdisciplinary consideration of complex requests for advice from 91色情片 and beyond.

    Hosted by CoPQTI as part of Diversity Festival 2025, our two-day masterclass series invited Higher Degree Researchers (HDRs) and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from all disciplines to explore how to make their research more inclusive-whatever the topic. Led by 91色情片 experts, the series offered four themed sessions focused on key domains of inclusive practice:

    Session 1A - Intersectionality

    Led by Dr Rose Amazan, this session explored how intersecting identities shape research participation, power dynamics, and outcomes. Participants examined how to reflect on their own positionality and design research that accounts for complexity and lived experience.

    Session 1B - Accessibility

    Led by Professor Karen Fisher and Yssy Burton-Clark, this session focused on inclusive design, access needs, and adaptive research methods. Participants explored strategies for anticipating and responding to diverse access requirements across the research lifecycle.

    Session 2A - Community

    Led by Associate Professor Bridget Haire, this session examined how community engagement and accountability shape inclusive research practice. Participants explored the ethics of representation, the politics of participation, and the importance of building reciprocal relationships with communities impacted by research.

    Session 2B - Decoloniality

    Led by Dr Vissa Chandrasekaram, this session engaged participants in critical reflection on colonial legacies in research and the importance of Indigenous knowledges, sovereignty, and ethical relationships. Participants considered how to move beyond extractive research practices toward approaches grounded in reciprocity, accountability, and cultural safety.

    Challenging the System: A Queer Legal Conversation with Sam Elkin

    The 91色情片 Community of Practice in Inclusive Research with Queer and Trans people, and people with innate variations of sex characteristics (Intersex), and the Centre for Criminology, Law and Justice, welcomed co-host writer and lawyer Sam Elkin to discuss his new book, Detachable Penis: A Queer Legal Saga which spans his years establishing Victoria鈥檚 first LGBTIQ legal service while the marriage equality debates were raging.
