Professor Caroline Ford
Professor Caroline Ford is the Strategic Director of the Ainsworth Endometriosis Research Institute (AERI). In this role she leads听engagement with key stakeholders including academic collaborators, industry partners and donors.听AERI is national research program of precision medicine in endometriosis involving researchers from 5 universities and 3 linked hospitals. As Strategic Director Prof Ford works closely with the Clinical Director to coordinate a cohesive and impactful research program that delivers outcomes to people with endometriosis.
An internationally recognised medical researcher, women鈥檚 health advocate, and educator, Professor Caroline Ford currently holds roles at the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia) and the Department of Genomic Medicine, Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen, Denmark). A research leader on liquid biopsy and pre-clinical models of disease, she has attracted significant national and international grant funding; industry contracts; and innovative philanthropic partnerships. Her research has identified novel targets that are now the focus of drug development and clinical trials.
An experienced, prize-winning university lecturer Professor Ford convenes academic courses on medical research, cancer pathology, and personalised medicine. Passionate about science communication and enhancing health literacy amongst the wider community, she is frequently invited as guest speaker and panellist on the topics of gynaecological cancer; women鈥檚 health; and careers in medical research.
Named a by Science & Technology Australia, Professor Ford is an ardent advocate for women in science. Her advocacy for early and mid-career researchers; and the importance of scientific-clinical-community partnerships has been demonstrated through leadership roles at Cure Cancer Australia and the Translational Cancer Research Network. Professor Ford鈥檚 work in gender equity and women鈥檚 health has been recognised with numerous awards, and she remains committed to driving innovation and impact.
