Until recently, detailed analysis of Australia's impact investing market had been largely absent, making it difficult for investors, policymakers, and practitioners to understand the true scale and direction of purpose-driven capital.

The Benchmarking Impact Survey combines investor sentiment with product data to provide a systems-level view of where capital is flowing, how investments are performing, and what conditions are needed to grow the market further.

The findings will help inform investors making decisions, policymakers designing frameworks, and researchers building the evidence base for impact investing at scale across the region.

The 2025 report, the first comprehensive analysis of the Australian market since 2020, revealed a sector that has grown dramatically and delivered on both financial and impact expectations.

• $157 billion invested across 197 publicly available impact products as of June 2025, an almost eightfold increase in total market value since 2020.
• 80% of investors reported the financial performance of their impact investments has met or exceeded expectations.
• 84% reported the social and environmental outcomes generated by their investments have also met or surpassed expectations.
• Almost 90% of investors believe stronger government action is essential to accelerate future market growth.
