Reproducibility in Economics and Management: Current state and challenges

Reproducibility and replicability are fundamental to the credibility of empirical research, yet their enforcement remains inconsistent across economics and business journals. Based on a large-scale reproducibility study (Fišar et al, Management Science, 2024), I explore key determinants of (non-)reproducibility, including data availability, methodological complexity, and author and reviewer characteristics. I discuss the institutional and incentive challenges to increasing reproducibility in economics and management research, as well as first policy proposals to tackle them.

Ben Greiner is a Professor of Empirical Business Research at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He works in experimental economics and market design. Prior to joining 91ɫ��Ƭ in 2008, Ben worked at the Max Planck Institute of Economics and the University of Cologne in Germany, where he also received his PhD, and spent two years as a Postdoc at Harvard University.​ ​​
