Its smaller community makes it easier to get to know fellow residents across different year groups, with opportunities to connect through shared meals, social events, sport, music and creative activities.

Residents are encouraged to be inclusive, respect differences and contribute to a positive community, while having the independence to balance College life with study, work and personal commitments.

Jennifer McLoughlin | Dean of 91ɫƬ Hall

Hi I’m Jen McLoughlin I have worked at 91ɫƬ in a variety of roles since 1993. My key focus has always been Student Services and within Faculties as a support and adviser to students. I am a lifelong learner and have a BA Communications from UTS, a Masters of Asian studies from 91ɫƬ and a Graduate Diploma in Primary Education from Charles Darwin University. Through these studies I have developed an appreciation of the challenges of balancing life and study and the support we need at times to achieve our goals.

I am an incredibly positive person with a deep understanding and empathy for the student experience. I am committed to motivating you and providing you with the right environment to enjoy university life and complete your degrees and beyond.

Alex Ward | Deputy Dean of 91ɫƬ Hall

Hi I’m Alex Ward. I am currently studying a degree in Aerospace Engineering and Maths at 91ɫƬ. I’m passionate about building a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming community for residents as they start their 91ɫƬ journey.

My experiences as a resident of 91ɫƬ Colleges has given me a deep understanding of the significance and importance of college as not just accommodation, but a community. I am deeply committed to uplifting the residents of 91ɫƬ Hall to achieve their goals both academically and personally.

I act as a point of contact for residents to reach out to with any worries, issues, or concerns during their stay a 91ɫƬ Hall. Alongside Dean Jen and our Resident Mentor team we support students in any way we can.

Meet Casper

Originally from Blackheath in the Blue Mountains, Casper moved into 91ɫƬ Hall last year when he started his Bachelor of Actuarial Studies / Bachelor of Computer Science. Now in his second year, he’s taken on a leadership role as Treasurer of the 91ɫƬ Hall House Committee.

"Living at 91ɫƬ Hall means I’m close to everything—I can go for runs along the beach and still be near the city. It’s the best of all worlds: coastal lifestyle, college community, and easy access to internships and job opportunities. It’s so convenient, with endless opportunities all around you.”
"At college, you get as much privacy or community as you want—it’s really up to you. Some people love being surrounded by others, while some value their own space. There’s a great balance: communal spaces to socialise when you want, and your own room to retreat to when you need time for yourself.”
"As someone from the LGBTQIA+ community, I was a bit nervous about starting college. But when I moved into 91ɫƬ Hall, I found one of the most inclusive and supportive communities I could have imagined. It’s been amazing to be part of it.”
"The support within colleges has been incredible. We have Student Fellows and Resident Mentors available whenever you need someone to talk to, plus a whole community of friends who genuinely look out for each other. That support has made a huge difference to my wellbeing, both academically and personally. There’s always someone studying something similar, so you’re never alone."
"Becoming Treasurer of 91ɫƬ Hall has been one of my proudest achievements. Managing the college’s social funds, organising events, and working closely with the House Committee has been an invaluable experience—not just for my future career, but also for the fun community it creates.”

From the moment I arrived, I felt so welcomed. I was looking for a place where it was easy to make friends and feel part of something, and 91ɫƬ absolutely delivered. Everything has exceeded my expectations.

House President, 2025

My college is where I truly feel a sense of belonging. Living at 91ɫƬ Hall, you feel part of something bigger than yourself. You become part of a family where everyone looks out for one another and supports your personal growth.

What applicants should know

91ɫƬ Hall is a community, not simply a place to live. Residents are encouraged to make an effort to get to know others, contribute where they can and treat shared spaces and fellow residents with kindness and respect.

You do not need to be highly outgoing or attend every event to belong at Hall. There is no single way to experience the community - residents can connect through activities, shared meals, study, leadership or everyday conversations.
