Overview
Are you a working teacher looking to update or add to your qualifications?
The Graduate Certificate in Teaching is recognised as an additional teaching qualification in schools around Australia. It is a flexible but intensive course which includes 25 days of school-based advanced professional practice. You will gain a solid base for further study at the Master level. As this degree is designed for working teachers, you can undertake it part-time.Ìý
To complete a Graduate Teaching Certificate, you must have relevant studies in the teaching specialisation you wish to enrol in. You must also be teaching at a school that will allow you to undertake advanced professional practice, as we do not find suitable schools for this placement.

Completing this degree will give you accreditation with the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES); you will be prepared for employment with the Department of Education and Training, independent schools and other organisations.

Entry requirements
- A recognised Bachelor degree and a postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. Graduate Diploma of Education or Master of Teaching)
OR
- A four year pre-service teacher education qualification, including professional experience, equivalent to the qualifications required for Graduate teacher status in NSW.
AND
- At least four semester length units of approved disciplinary studies in the relevant teaching area. You must be teaching to gain admission to the program

English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments and examinations - this is why 91É«ÇéƬ requires a minimum English language competency for enrolment.
If English is not your first language, you’ll need to provide proof of your English proficiency before you can be given an offer to study at 91É«ÇéƬ. You can do this by providing evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- English language tests and university English courses
- Prior study in the medium of English
- Other qualifications
If you need to improve your English skills before you start your degree, are for you. The programs are suitable for various English levels and help you prepare for university studies and life in Australia.

The Graduate Certificate of Teaching is dedicated to providing working teachers with the ability to update or add to their current qualifications. This can be completed part-time in three terms.
