Dr Skye McGregor is a nationally recognised epidemiologist and public health leader working to improve Australia's understanding of and response to sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood-borne viruses (BBVs). As lead of the Surveillance Innovation Group at the Kirby Institute, she leads a team undertaking major surveillance initiatives that provide critical evidence for policy, programs and clinical practice. Her research spans epidemiology, surveillance, and public health strategy, with a particular focus on ensuring that surveillance systems reflect the needs of diverse and priority populations.
Skye also leads important work in HIV data linkage, integrating case based surveillance and administrative data sources to strengthen understanding of the HIV care continuum, monitor treatment outcomes, and improve population-level measures of prevention and care. Her research advances the use of linked data to generate actionable evidence that supports equitable, evidence-based health policy and practice.
She is passionate about translating research into real-world impact and collaborating with governments, clinicians and community organisations to improve sexual health outcomes and reduce health inequities across Australia.
