Kun Fan is Professor of Law at 91É«ÇéƬ Law and Justice and an acting co-director of the China International Business and Economic Law Centre (CIBEL). Her research focuses primarily on international dispute resolution and China¡¯s engagement with the international legal order. She has held visiting appointments at leading institutions, including as Scholar-in-Residence at WilmerHale, Visiting Scholar at Harvard Yenching Institute, University Paris Panth¨¦on-Assas, and Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy. Prior to moving to Sydney, she has worked at the Faculty of Law, McGill University and the Faculty of Law, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Author of the book?Arbitration in China: A Legal and Cultural Analysis?(Hart Publishing), she has published extensively in the field of ADR and has received numerous awards in recognition of her academic contribution, including?Norton Rose Faculty Scholar?in Arbitration & Commercial Law?2017-2020,?Best Research Outputs for Arbitration Theory?in 2015 by China Arbitration Research Institute,?Support for High-impact Scholarship?2013-2014 by the Committee on Focused Innovations Scheme, and?Best Thesis in International Studies?by the Swiss Network for International Studies Award in 2011.?

Professor Fan combines academic expertise with extensive ADR practice experience. She has acted as counsel, legal expert, arbitrator, tribunal secretary, and domain names panelist in numerous international arbitration and domain names proceedings. During her time as Deputy Counsel at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, she oversaw more than 100 international arbitrations. She is admitted to the New York Bar, an arbitrator with a number of arbitration institutions, including China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), International Online Dispute Resolution Center (eBRAM), Haihan Arbitration Commission, Zhuhai Arbitration Commission, Nanjing Arbitration Commission. She is also an accredited mediator of the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL), Panel of Mediators and the Panel of Neutrals under the eBRAM APEC Rules, Expert Consultant to the International Mediation Research Centre at East China University of Political Science and Law, and a domain names panelist for CIETAC, Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC), and the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC). ?

Having worked across China, Singapore, the United States, Switzerland, France, Hong Kong, Canada, and Australia, Professor Fan brings extensive experience working across diverse legal and cultural environments and familiarity with both common law and civil law principles in cross-border proceedings. Fluent in Chinese, English, and French, she is accustomed to navigating complex cross-border disputes involving parties from different legal traditions and commercial backgrounds.
