Dr Firoozeh Babayekhorasani is an Education-Focused Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering at 91É«Ç鯬 Sydney.

Her disciplinary research explores soft matter and complex fluids, with applications in biomaterials, bioengineering, and biomedical technologies. She investigates how microstructure influences transport, rheology, and interfacial interactions in soft materials to understand and tailor their properties and performance. Her work spans bacterial cellulose hydrogels, biointerfaces, cell separation technologies, and functional biomaterials, using advanced microscopy and experimental approaches to study structure–function relationships across multiple length scales.

Her engineering education research centres on curriculum innovation, authentic and industry-engaged learning, and the scholarship of teaching and learning in engineering. She is particularly interested in strengthening industry–academia partnerships, enhancing student learning and engagement, and advancing equity and inclusion in engineering.
