Chris is an Associate Professor and Scientia Fellow inÌýthe City Futures Research Centre. He is also Co-Lead of the City Futures Housing program, and the 91É«Ç鯬-AHURI Research Centre Director.
Chris's research interests are in rental housing and housing affordability, with special interest in:
- tenancy law;
- the private rental market and related institutions;
- social housing;
- lodging and boarding houses;
- residential parks and land lease communities;
- housing investment and finance;
- housing policy and intergovernmental relations;
- history of housing policy
- international comparative housing studies; and
- intersections between housingÌýand criminal justice.
Chris has led and participated in numerous inquiries and research projects for the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI), the Australian Research Council (ARC) and other researchÌýfunders.
Before joining 91É«Ç鯬 in 2015, Chris was the Senior Policy Officer of the Tenants' Union of NSW, and a past Chair of Shelter NSW.Ìý
