Anna is a Lecturer in the School of Global and Public Law. She teaches and researches in international law, focusing on international human rights and refugee law. She also teaches in public law, having previously practised as a solicitor in Australia and abroad in constitutional and human rights cases for refugees and survivors of human rights abuses. She has a particular familiarity with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, having acted as a UN advisor for Amnesty International early in her career. She has run and advised on cases before UN human rights treaty bodies and has worked closely with UN Special Procedures mandate holders.

Anna's doctoral research was on the role for the right to life with dignity in assessing non-refoulement claims for people impacted by environmental hazards, including the impacts of climate change. She continues to work on these issues and has presented her research at conferences in Australia and abroad.

She has been a visiting researcher at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute in Lund, Sweden, and at MOBILE at Copenhagen University. She works closely with the Refugee Law Initiative's Externalisation Working Group, contributing to Policy Briefs and other projects as needed. She previously ran the Kaldor Centre's Strategic Litigation Network, connecting practitioners and academics to support litigation relevant to refugees.
