The Tornado is an energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer with focussing optics and a movable stage for elemental point analysis or elemental imaging of relatively large samples. Not suited for SEM-EDX. 听
- Semi-quantitative and quantitative analysis from Na to U with low limits of detection.
- Line scan across a sample surface
- Elemental mapping across a sample surface

Specifications
- Polycapillary focussing optics enabling X-ray spot size down to 20 micrometres.听
- Measurement under vacuum or He for vacuum sensitive samples to minimise X-ray attenuation from air.
- XFlash silicon drift detector.
- Two detectors at different orientations to minimise diffraction artefacts during imaging.
