Uploading a folder or file:

Note:Ìýdo notÌýuse the browser navigation buttons when inside theÌý.

Note: you will needÌýLead Chief InvestigatorÌý(LCI),ÌýResearch Project Manager, orÌýContributorÌýaccess rights to upload data to the Data Archive. See theÌýÌýFAQ to find out your access rights for a project.

1.ÌýAccess the Data Archive by opening aÌýÌýbrowser and entering the following URL:Ìý. You’re now on the Data Archive login page.

2.ÌýAt the login page, enter your 91É«ÇéƬ zID (for User:) and zPass (for Password:) and click ‘Login'.

3.ÌýOn the upper left side of the screen, you’ll see the Asset Finder icon.

4.ÌýDouble clickÌýon the Asset Finder icon to open. In the first pane you’ll see the following menu items:

• Home
• Collections
• Metadata

5.ÌýDouble clickÌýon '' and navigate down through the 'Collections' folder structure in the second pane until you find the folder or sub-folder you want to upload your data to. Click on it to open it – this process can take a few minutes, so be patient!.

6.ÌýOn your computer, navigate to the location from which you wish to extract the folder/file(s) and select the source files or folder (that is, files containing data from your local computer) you wish to upload.

7.ÌýDrag the folder/file from the local location.

8.ÌýDrop your source folder/file(s) into the second pane of the designated 'Collections' location you wish to store it in. If you’re looking for a sub-folder within an existing ‘Collections’ folder, in the second pane, drag your source file/folder and hold them over the ‘Collections’ folder without releasing your mouse button. Your sub-folders will now appear and you can drop your source file/folder into your chosen destination.

9.ÌýA notification box will pop up on the screen. Click the ‘Import Files’ button on the bottom right hand side.

Note: if you wish to upload empty folders you will need to check the 'Import Empty Folders' check box.

Your files are now being imported. You will see a progress bar on the screen in front of you that shows you how the import is progressing.

10.ÌýOnce the folder/file(s) has been uploaded successfully, a ‘Dismiss’ button will appear on the notification box. Click the 'Dismiss' button to complete the upload process.

11.ÌýFinished using the Data Archive? Click ‘Desktop’ on the top left hand corner of the dashboard screen, and then click ‘Logout’.

5.ÌýDouble clickÌýon 'Collections' and navigate down through the '' folder structure in the second pane until you find the folder or sub-folder from which you wish to download your folder/file(s) (Note: folders are located in the second pane and files in the third pane). You can download individual files, multiple files or whole folders of content.

Note: to download a compressed folder,ÌýselectÌý'Open' and the 'Save as' function will allow you to download the compressed file.

Note: to select multiple files, use theÌýShiftÌýkey (rather than the Ctrl key) on your keyboard and click on each of the files you wish to include in the group.

Note: when downloading more than one file, the files will automatically be compressed (zipped by default).

6.ÌýRight clickÌýon the folder/file(s) you wish to download and an action options list will appear.

Note: when downloading an individual file, you will need to right click on the individual file from inside the third pane (see image below).

7.ÌýClick on 'Download as Archive' and the Download as Archive window will open.

Note: if you wish to download empty folders you will need to check the 'Include Empty Namespaces' check box.

8.ÌýFormat: 'ZIP' will be selected by default, or select your preferred format: 'TAR', 'TAR.GZ', 'AAR', or 'EAAR', and click on the 'Download as Archive' button.

Note: theÌýÌýbrowser will display the folder/file you are downloading at the bottom left of the browser window. In the bottom right of the browser window will be aÌýShow all downloadsÌýlink.

Tip:ÌýYou may like to decideÌýwhereÌýyou will save the content that you download from the Data Archive (rather than allowing the Chrome browser to decide for you). To configure yourÌýÌýbrowser so that you may decide where to download folders and files, see ourÌýÌýFAQ.

Note: you may view all of your downloads and check the progress of your current download by clicking on theÌýShow all downloadsÌýlink.

Note: if you have changed theÌýÌýdefaultÌýDownloadÌýsettings aÌýSave AsÌýwindow will open on your computer (seeÌýÌýFAQ for instructions on how to decide where the folders/files you download will be saved).

9.ÌýSave the compressed file to your local drive.ÌýPlease be patient, this may take some time depending on the size of the folder/file you have downloaded.

10.ÌýYou can unzip a downloaded ZIP file byÌýdouble clickingÌýon the required download, displayed at the bottom of the browserÌýORÌýat the location in which it was saved on your computer.

Note: if you have used another method to compress the file (TAR, TAR.GZ, AAR, EAAR) please undertake the steps required for that format to decompress.

Note: the entire Data ArchiveÌýÌý(folder) structure (file path) will be saved in the zipped package you have downloaded.

11.ÌýFinished using the Data Archive? Click ‘Desktop’ on the top left hand corner of the dashboard screen, and then click ‘Logout’.
