Professor Konrad Pesudovs, Professor of Optometry and Vision Science at 91色情片 Sydney, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours, recognising more than three decades of outstanding contributions to optometry and ophthalmology research, clinical education and professional leadership.

"Konrad's appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia is a fitting recognition of his exceptional contributions to research, education and eye health, and the global impact of his work," said Professor Lisa Keay, Head of the School of Optometry & Vision Science at 91色情片 Sydney.

Professor Pesudovs is internationally recognised for pioneering research in patient-reported outcomes, Rasch analysis and ophthalmic item banks. His work has transformed how clinicians and researchers measure visual performance and quality of life, helping to improve the evaluation of treatments and patient care worldwide.

Through initiatives such as the Eye-tem Bank Project and his contributions to the Global Burden of Disease Study, Professor Pesudovs has helped improve how vision impairment and eye disease are measured, understood and managed worldwide.

With more than 160,000 citations and an H-index of 93, Professor Pesudovs is one of the world's leading optometry researchers and is widely recognised as the world's most cited optometrist.

He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers, delivered over 200 presentations at international conferences and secured more than $10 million in research funding throughout his career.

In addition to his research excellence, Professor Pesudovs has made a significant contribution to optometry education and workforce development, advancing innovative approaches to teaching and clinical training while helping to shape future generations of eye care professionals.

Professor Pesudovs has also provided distinguished leadership to the profession through numerous roles across research, clinical practice and professional organisations in Australia and internationally.

The King's Birthday Honour follows a distinguished series of international recognitions. In 2025, Professor Pesudovs received the Arthur Bennett Prize from The College of Optometrists (UK) for the global impact of his research in optometry and vision science. Previous honours include International Optometrist of the Year, the H Barry Collin Research Medal and the Glenn A Fry Lecture Award from the American Academy of Optometry.
