Professor Eliathamby Ambikairajah was formally invested as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) at an Investiture Ceremony held on 13 May 2026 at Government House Sydney. The insignia of the award was presented by Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales.
Professor Ambikairajah was honoured for his distinguished service to tertiary education and research, to electrical engineering, to technology innovation, and to the Sri Lankan community in Australia.
The appointment recognises his outstanding contributions over many years as an educator, researcher, leader and community advocate.
