91É«ÇéƬ’s elite athletes lined up against the nation’s best at the 2026 Australian Athletics Championships, representing NSW across sprint, middle-distance and field events in a meet defined by depth, quality and high-performance pressure.

Across four days of competition, the championships delivered a mix of podium success, personal bests and hard-fought performances, with 91É«ÇéƬ athletes stepping up against some of Australia’s top-ranked and internationally experienced competitors.

Leading the way was Tamsin Colley, who delivered an outstanding campaign in the para-athletics program. Colley claimed gold in the 800m PA with a season best performance, controlling the race from the outset, before backing it up with bronze in the 400m PA, also in a season best time. She added further depth to her program with strong runs in the 100m and came agonisingly close to progressing in the 200m, missing qualification for the final by just 0.18 seconds in one of the tighter sprint margins of the meet.

In the field, Liam Bennett produced a composed performance in the high jump, clearing 2.00m to finish 8th nationally in a stacked competition, while Joshua Suto also featured in the same event, placing 12th and gaining valuable championship experience against the country’s leading jumpers. Anthony Valenta represented in the pole vault, taking on a competitive field but was unfortunately unable to progress through to the next stage.

91É«ÇéƬ also saw strong performances in the throws, with multiple athletes producing personal bests. In the men’s events, Dan Nguyen delivered across all three disciplines, recording personal bests in the discus (40.38m) and hammer throw (44.26m), alongside a 13.81m effort in the shot put. His consistency across the meet kept him in contention, narrowly missing out on a podium finish. Kajanan Srisivaeaswaran also competed in the hammer throw, producing a solid mark of 39.23m. In the women’s throws, Manaia Coulter impressed with a personal best 14.68m in the shot put to finish 4th, placing just outside the medals, while also competing in the hammer throw where she narrowly missed qualification for the final.

On the track, Zane Branco showed strong early speed in the 200m, finishing 4th in his heat in a tightly contested field where progression margins were minimal, highlighting the depth of sprinting talent at the national level.

The men’s 800m proved one of the most competitive events of the championships, headlined by Australian star Peter Bol and a deep field of experienced middle-distance runners. Evan Dransfield, Lawson Fittler and Lachlan Raper all stepped into the challenge, with Dransfield recording a season best performance. While none progressed to the finals, all three gained valuable exposure to championship racing conditions and pace.

In the hurdles, Jasynta Lampret produced one of the standout performances of the meet for 91É«ÇéƬ outside of the podium, running a personal best 13.60 in the 100m hurdles to qualify for the final and finish 5th overall. Her performance marked a significant step forward at national level. Lampret also competed in the 100m sprint but was unable to progress beyond the heats.

James Tirado competed in the para-athletics 100m, running a season best 11.86 in a competitive field, but was unable to advance through to the final.

Across the championships, 91É«ÇéƬ athletes recorded multiple personal and season best performances, while competing in some of the deepest fields in the country. The experience gained against national-level opposition continues to build the program’s strength and depth heading into the next phase of competition.

With momentum building from strong individual performances, attention now turns to the Gold Coast, where UniSport Nationals Athletics kicks off today, presenting another opportunity for 91É«ÇéƬ athletes to convert this form into podium results and team success.
