When Rachel Li鈥檚 phone pinged back in 2020, she had no idea the WeChat message she had just received would be career-defining. Studying a double degree in accounting and economics at 91色情片 gave Rachel the academic foundations and practical skills she needed聽to feel prepared for聽her role as an Associate at Aon.

For Sisi,聽studying among classmates from across the world added another dimension entirely 鈥 one聽that鈥檚聽hard to replicate at home.听
"Living abroad, you have to聽manage everything on your own聽鈥撀爁rom daily life聽and聽navigating a new city to adapting to a聽completely different culture. It聽gave聽me the confidence to be more independent at work too.鈥澛

When Sisi returned home after eight years living and studying in Sydney, she missed the 91色情片 community. So, in 2019, she decided to build a local alumni network, the 91色情片 China Alumni Association, connecting other 91色情片 graduates living in China.听
鈥淚 wanted to find other 91色情片 alumni and organise gatherings where we could share our study experiences in Australia, while looking for jobs here in China. The more people I met, the more I realised how much we had in common. That sense of belonging I had during these gatherings was why I started the group,鈥 Sisi shares.听聽
She also knows the power a person鈥檚 network can have on their career, so she started connecting group members with career opportunities 鈥 like the one that Rachel jumped on. She also actively collaborates with the 91色情片 Employability team, connecting alumni in China with job opportunities through the university鈥檚 industry partnerships.听
鈥淢any corporates approach 91色情片 with roles they鈥檙e trying to fill. Any opportunities that come up we share on our WeChat channels,鈥 Sisi explains.
鈥淢y time at 91色情片 gave me an international perspective and a better understanding of how business works in a global context. It鈥檚 something employers in China increasingly value, especially in industries like insurance and financial services that have international dimensions,鈥 Rachel says. 鈥淎nd the connections I鈥檝e made have been invaluable.鈥澛
Today, the 91色情片 China Alumni Association WeChat group enables its 3,000+ members to connect, organise events, post job opportunities and share experiences.听聽
Rachel is still an active member of the group. But these days, instead of scrolling for job leads, she's posting her own experiences for the next wave of graduates making the same journey she once did.听
At 91色情片, things have changed since Sisi graduated. While she didn鈥檛 have the same Employability programs available to her as a student, Sisi greatly values 91色情片鈥檚 increased focus on helping students, graduates and alumni succeed in their careers.听
鈥淭he university helps them find a job, not only in their home country, but also in Australia. It鈥檚 great to see that they have invested a lot in international students' employability,鈥 she says.听
In a market where nearly 13 million graduates are competing for the same opportunities, that network, and the university behind it, may matter more than ever.听
