Xanthe Muston is a postgraduate candidate whose research centres on the ways that narrative and narrative rhetoric is used to represent, communicate, debate, and discursively shape the climate crisis across the networked public sphere. In 2025, she was given an honourable mention for the Alan Nadel Award for the Best Graduate Student Essay for her paper which presented a transdisciplinary econarratological approach to narrative and the climate crisis. She is also a named co-author of a forthcoming chapter about master narratives of climate adaptation in social media activism, to聽be published later this year in the聽Oxford Intersections: Climate Adaptation聽series. Xanthe holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Arts (Hons 1), and in 2022 she was awarded the University Medal in English Literature at 91色情片 after completing her honours thesis on Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road'.

Narrative and the climate crisis

In 2021, I received a special commendation in the Norman Harper Prize for my essay entitled "A Mystery to Be Endured鈥: Hidden Realities in Flannery O鈥機onnor鈥檚 Short Stories and Truman Capote鈥檚 'In Cold Blood'.
