Sivaan's research is in the field of aesthetics and ethics, specifically concerned with the role spirituality plays in framing creative practices. Case studies include Hildegard of Bingen and medieval visionaries, and Georgiana Houghton in the context of Spiritualism. Sivaan's methodological approach uses conceptual perspectives and the imagination to unpack and analyse relations depicted in art. Her work is entered through continental philosophy, feminist psychoanalysis, post-structuralism, feminism, political philosophy, political theory, and sociology. Sivaan graduated with first class honours from a sociology program in 2021, prior to commencing a PhD in aesthetic theory.
