Megan Hanson is a current PhD candidate at the School of Art and Design, and the Senior Technical Officer of Textiles and Fashion at 91É«ÇéƬ. Through practice-led research Megan is exploring techniques for weaving garments directly on loom, using 91É«ÇéƬ’s TC2 digital Jacquard loom. Megan’s research is innovating methods for combining the conventionally discrete systems of weaving cloth and making garments as a means to reduce fashion waste and propose a more holistic approach to clothing the body. Alongside her research and work at 91É«ÇéƬ, Megan has exhibited in galleries and institutions throughout Australia, including Casula Powerhouse, the National Gallery of Victoria, Carriageworks and Tamworth Regional Art Gallery. She regularly collaborates with artists and performers to produce conceptual garments for artistic contexts.
