Maya Martin-Westheimer is a curator, researcher, and writer working across independent and institutional contexts, with a focus on site-responsive and socially engaged creative practice. She is a PhD candidate and sessional academic at the University of New South Wales (91色情片), Curatorial and Programs Assistant at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, and co-founder and director of Floorplan Studio. Central to her practice are questions of place, ecology, and cultural entanglement, informed by environmental humanities and post-human thought. Her work considers curating as a method for engaging relationships between artists, place, community, and ecological knowledge. Her PhD project, Curating as a Practice of Place (working title), is a practice-led research project examining how curatorial frameworks shape engagement with ecologically and culturally complex places, contributing to an expanded vocabulary around site-responsive curatorial practice. Recent projects include Deep Place: A Randwick Town Hall Site-Responsive Series (2025) and Rockpool Residency: Unseen Worlds (2024). Her writing has been published in Kerb Journal and in edited volumes including Dark Botany and Plant Humanities: Theory, Art and the Botanic Gaze. Maya welcomes new discussions and collaborations.
