Linda Bretherton's doctoral research examines how creative interventions by contemporary artists and curators have reshaped curatorial practice in museums. She is particularly interested in the reactivation of historical collections to reveal hidden histories and obscured narratives, exploring the shifting relationship between contemporary curatorial practice and institutional collections. Before commencing her PhD, Linda worked as a consultant to federal and NSW state government agencies and several national cultural institutions based in NSW. Her career has focused on audience engagement with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, both in Australia and internationally, across the private and public sectors. In the GLAM sector, she has held senior roles at the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW), representing AGNSW for the Committee for Sydney (2018-2020), completed a curatorial internship at the Australian National Maritime Museum, and worked with commercial galleries. She has also collaborated with First Nations communities in Yuendumu, NT, and Kempsey, NSW, and served on community and community arts boards. Linda holds a Master of Curating and Cultural Leadership (91ɫ��Ƭ), a Master of Art in Art History and Theory (University of Sydney) - with a thesis on the psychology of space in the intimist interior paintings of fin de siècle Paris - and a Bachelor of Education (Visual Arts) (91ɫ��Ƭ).
