Candice Ng is a design educator and researcher who examines criticality in graphic design education, investigating pedagogical frameworks and their relationship to norms, values and systems of power. She is presently a PhD candidate at the School of Art & Design, 91É«ÇéƬ, where her research extends over a decade of work at the intersection of design pedagogy, critical inquiry and practice. Prior to joining 91É«ÇéƬ, Candice was based in Singapore as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She holds an MFA in New Media from Pennsylvania State University and was a participant in the School of Visual Arts Design Research, Writing and Criticism Summer program. A two-time recipient of the Nanyang Education Award (2015, 2019), Candice was appointed Design Research Fellow for the inaugural Singapore Art Museum (SAM) Design Collection Fellowship (2024–25) and recently served as a juror for the One Club for Creativity – Young Ones ADC Award (2026). She recently published a book entitled Critical of/for What? Notes on Criticality in Singapore Design Education and Practice (2026), documenting preliminary investigations on the tensions between educational aims and professional realities in design.
