The Japanese Language Proficiency Test is conducted both in Japan and abroad to assess and certify the proficiency levels of learners of the Japanese language.

Mobile phones, smart watches and similar devices are BANNED from use from the beginning of the test until all sections have concluded, INCLUDING DURING TEST BREAKS. You may bring them, but they must be switched off and will be held by staff for the entire test day duration.

*Latecomers will not be allowed to take the first section of the test but may be permitted to take the test from the second or third section.
How to apply
Applications are administered centrally by the Japan Foundation, Sydney. Please visit the ?to register and make payments for the test.?
Fees
- N1, N2 and N3 ? $105 Test fee + $6.81 Eventbrite booking fee.
- N4 and N5 ? $95 Test fee + $6.27 Eventbrite booking fee.
- All prices are inclusive of GST.

PLEASE NOTE:
- Your results will be mailed to mailing address (AUSTRALIA DOMESTIC ONLY) recorded on your application form by early Oct 2026.
- If you move, please notify us by filling out this form. Otherwise, your results will be sent to your previous address.
- This form will be CLOSED on Sep 4 (Fri), 2026.
