Artist statement

Feather & Fang explores relationships in nature on Erringhi country where I live and paint. I often focus on ecology of place and love to explore the interconnection of living things. For this body of work I’ve concentrated on the relationship between predator and prey.

I research for my artworks by sitting in the landscape I’m painting from and observing behaviours, colours, movement, relationships and how it feels to be connected to this environmental web.

This attention to detail is aesthetically portrayed through oil painting, allowing me to capture a likeness of my observations plus freedom of movement and artistic interpretation.

The relationships within nature from mycelium to fungal decay, birth to death, the hunter and the hunted, are a constant source of inspiration for me. An elaborate web of seething undulations of experience, constantly changing and shifting.
