This matte painting explores the idea of peace within fantasy, where imagination and technical craft merge into a seamless whole. The composition presents floating isles, a distant castle, drifting hot air balloons and layered skies shaped by warm tones. The colour grading leans into soft oranges and misted shadows, evoking a sense of serenity at dusk—a time suspended between day and dream. The work was constructed and composited within Nuke’s 3D interface, which allowed me to bring depth and subtle motion to the still imagery. Through parallax shifts, each layer—from the drifting fog to the hovering isles—finds a place within the scene, creating an illusion of endless space. This not only enhances the visual depth but also invites the viewer to feel as though they are moving gently through the world. Sound design was considered as an extension of the image: the imagined call of distant birds, the soft swell of wind and the weightless silence between. Together, these choices guide the audience into stillness. Ultimately, the piece is not about spectacle but wholeness. Every element is designed to dissolve into harmony, crafting a tranquil environment that could seamlessly hold a tracking shot within a larger narrative.
