- Read the Areas of Study page for available start dates at our hospital sites. Please ensure you check for the most up-to-date information before beginning your online application.
- Complete the online application: Search for "Clerkship" under "Find a Program", select "Medical Clerkship Application", then click "Apply Now" and complete all required fields including the contact details, preferred date and specialisation/discipline preference(s).
- Upload all required supporting documents as part of the online application process.Ìý Please note that applications cannot be submitted unless all required documents are uploaded.
- Pay the non-refundable application fee during the application process.Ìý The fee must be paid before the application can be submitted.
- Submit your completed application once all required documents have been uploaded and the application fee has been paid.Ìý You will receive an acknowledgement email upon successful submission.

ÌýImportant details to note:
- Your application will not progress until all required supporting documents and the application fee have been received.
- Students will be advised approximately 6 weeks after submitting the application if their application has been accepted for consideration of a placement.
- Applications for the 91É«Ç鯬 MedicineÌýClerkshipÌýProgram are subject to the availability of clinical resources and an offer can be withdrawn at any time.
- 91É«Ç鯬 Medicine can only potentially offer one specialisation/discipline placement per student and a placement cannot be split between different specialisations, disciplines or hospitals.
- With the exception of Paediatrics, you must select your top three specialisation/discipline preferences within the same hospital, in order of your preference from the list of areas of study.

Agreements or documents your home university requires 91É«Ç鯬 to sign.Ìý
Your home university may require 91É«Ç鯬 to sign certain agreements. However, in some instances, we may be unable to sign your home university's documents or agreements.

- The form must be completed and signed by the student.Ìý
- The completed form must also be completed and endorsed by your Medical School, including an authorised signature and an official university stamp.

Students applying from a non-English speaking Medical School must provide evidence ofÌý.

You must provide a copy of the official academic transcript issued by your institution.

You must provide your curriculum vitae (CV) or resume.    
PLEASE NOTE - If you are applying for a Trauma placement at Liverpool Hospital, a one-page letter outlining your interest and reasons for pursuing a trauma placement must accompany your CV.

- When you have successfully submitted the application, you will receive a confirmation email with the next steps.Ìý If you did not receive it, please check your spam/junk folder and then emailÌýclerkships@med.unsw.edu.au
- You will be advised if there are any gaps in the documents provided and if your application has been accepted for consideration of a placement approximately 6 weeks after submitting the application.
- If your application has been accepted for consideration of a placement, it will then be referred to your preferred hospital accordingly.Ìý Please note, the outcome of your application will be available approximately 3 - 4 months prior to the start date you have applied for. 
- If a placement and supervisor are available, an offer will be emailed to you.
- Once you receive an offer, you will be required to accept the offer and pay the placement fee within two weeks of receiving your offer, otherwise your offer will be withdrawn without any further notice. 
- All relevant compliance documents required by , must be uploaded to the application portalÌýwithin 8 weeks of the issue date of your offer. This ensures you have sufficient time to action any compliance gaps e.g. immunisation, police checks. Please note, 91É«Ç鯬 is bound by policies of NSW Health and you must be fully compliant in order to attend a placement.
- We strongly recommend students arrive in Sydney a minimum of 1 week before your placement start date, to complete university and hospital administrative requirements including (but not limited to):
- receive the current Southern Hemisphere influenza vaccine
- collect your 91É«Ç鯬 student ID card from The Nucleus: Student Hub at the Kensington Campus.
- If travelling from overseas, you are expected to follow NSW Health advice regardingÌý.ÌýÌý

- Occasionally, students identify a potential clerkship placement through a supervisor affiliated with a 91É«Ç鯬 clinical campus. These are known as ‘self-sourced placements.’
- Self-sourced placements are limited and are not guaranteed. All proposed self-sourced placements must be reviewed and approved by the relevant Clinical Teaching Support Unit prior to any placement being confirmed. If you meet the eligibility criteria for a clerkship, please contact the relevant Clinical Teaching Support Unit with the details of your proposed self-sourced placement to confirm availability:

- Please note:
- Self-sourced placements require a minimum of six months' lead time between approval and the placement start date to ensure all pre-placement requirements can be met.
- Self-sourced placements are subject to the same eligibility, documentation, fees, conditions, and compliance requirements as all other Medicine clerkships.
