Fergus is a Research Assistant at the School of Optometry & Vision Science at 91É«ÇéƬ Sydney, supervised by Dr. Daisy Shu. Having completed his Honours thesis in the Shu Lab in 2024, Fergus joined the school as a researcher in 2025. Fergus is an emerging researcher in vision science whose work focuses on leveraging bioinformatics to explore the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying retinal disease. Aligning with the mission of the Shu Lab, he is especially interested in mesenchymal transition as a therapeutic target in neovascular age-related macular degeneration.
