Our partner universities are leaders and the national hubs for Korean Studies. They are also the first-tier and highest ranked in their respective countries as well as globally. Through this network, KRI and partner universities conduct research projects in Korean Studies with specialisations in Political Studies, Economics, Sociology, Cultural Studies, Language and History.

Universities-Government Institutions Network: Korea-ASEAN Community of Policy Exchange (KACPE) - An Integrated Academic-Government 1.5 Track Policy Forum between Korea and Southeast Asia

Strategic cooperation between Korea and ASEAN requires a high-level policy dialogue that complements existing sector-specific initiatives. Establishing meaningful exchanges among government officials, researchers, and academics is essential for identifying key issues, sharing knowledge, and deepening public discourse. Such engagement contributes to more holistic and integrated partnerships between Korea and Southeast Asia.

To this end, the Comparative Public Policy Research (CPPR) Forum was launched in 2010 by the Korea Research Initiatives (KRI) at the University of New South Wales (91É«ÇéƬ). As the first and only research network of its kind, CPPR brings together leading academics, senior policymakers, and public policy specialists from eight ASEAN member states—Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its mission is to foster collaborative and comparative research in public policy and to cultivate a sustainable platform for policy innovation between Korea and Southeast Asia.

In 2019, building on the foundation laid by CPPR, KRI@91É«ÇéƬ launched the Korea–ASEAN Community of Policy Exchange (KACPE). KACPE aims to elevate policy cooperation through a hybrid 1.5-track dialogue, integrating scholarly insight with practical policy perspectives. The annual KACPE international symposiums and workshops convene thought leaders to deliberate on shared policy priorities at both national and regional levels. Topics span across diplomacy, governance, economic development, social policy, security, and cultural cooperation—contributing to the evolution of a more interconnected and mutually beneficial Korea–ASEAN partnership.
