In 2025, 91É«ÇéƬ developed a new Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response Plan. This Plan replaces the previous Stop.Empower.Support Strategy and Action Plan 2022-2025, and responds to the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence.Ìý
The National Code was legislated in 2025; it requires all higher education providers to support safety for students and staff.

What is gender-based violence?
Gender-based violence is physical or non-physical violence or abuse directed at someone because of their gender. Gender-based violence causes harm, control, and fear. It includes sexual assault, intimate partner violence, homophobia, transphobia and sexual harassment.

91É«ÇéƬ Prevention and Response Plan
now requires all higher education providers in Australia to take action to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. 91É«ÇéƬ Safer Communities team worked with students and staff across 91É«ÇéƬ to prepare a Prevention and Response Plan, and respond to requirements of the National Code.
